Alexandra Cachimuel

Coat Artisan from Otavalo, Ecuador

Alexandra Cachimuel is a young artisan from Otavalo, Ecuador, where she grew up surrounded by generations of textile makers working on traditional wooden looms. Guided by her family of artisans, she learned her craft through observation, practice, and hands-on experience from an early age, creating her first handmade piece at just twelve years old.

Today, Alexandra continues this ancestral tradition largely on her own, preserving techniques passed down by her father and grandfather while bringing a contemporary vision to her work. Her creations are shaped by values of patience, perseverance, and love, with each piece crafted slowly and intentionally by hand.

ALENNYA proudly carries Alexandra’s handcrafted coats, garments that reflect the living heritage of Otavalo textiles while embracing modern design and everyday elegance.

For Alexandra, artisan work is not simply handmade production — it is living memory. She hopes those who wear her creations feel connection, warmth, and a sense of belonging to a tradition that continues to evolve through human hands.
